Major Ski Destinations Near Himalaya Mountain

Himalaya is the highest mountain system on earth, the name Himalaya means the House of Snow and it consists of several parallel mountain ranges. The mountains nearly extend 1,600-miles in an ellipse across southern Asia from the bend of the Indus River in the northwest to the Brahmapytra in the east. For thousands of years the Himalayas have held a profound significance for the peoples of South Asia, as their literature, mythologies, and religions reflect. Since ancient times the vast glaciated heights have attracted the attention of the pilgrim mountaineers of India.

Char-dhams, the four most sacred and revered Hindu temples: Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are nestled in the Mighty Mountains.Uttarakhand - the land of god, the homeof Himalayas and truly a paradise on earth.The important ski destinations in Uttaranchal are Auli, Dayara Bugyal near Gangotri, Munsyari near Pittorgarh, and Mundali near Dehradun. Skiing classes are conducted to help people who are not much proficient in skiing, by the tourism board.The only airport one could possibly find in Uttaranchal is in Jolly Grant which is near Dehradun and Haridwar and Dehradun are the nearest railway stations.
