Best Places to Celebrate Easter

Bangalore: Easter marks the end of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, repentance, and spiritual discipline in preparation for Easter. The long toil of self-restraint and reflection ends with chocolate, Easter eggs and feasting. Here are the best places to celebrate Easter this year.

1.Argentina:

Easter Sunday in Argentina is celebrated by consuming eggs as well as the special Easter cake, Rosca de Pascua. People exchange eggs not only with their family, but also with friends and colleagues and the day comes to a close by attending mass followed by a big family gathering involving lots of food, often a huge barbecue. Local governments in the main cities organize treasure hunts in order for everyone to participate.

2.Greece:

The Greek Orthodox Church follows the Byzantine calendar; therefore, this year's Easter Sunday takes place on April 15. A replica of Christ's tomb is carried through the town on Good Friday in Athens. People congregate to churches at midnight on Saturday carrying unlit candles that they light from the Holy Flame and walk through town enjoying a glorious display of fireworks, bells and triumph. Easter Sunday's menu features lots of colored eggs and spit-fire roast lamb.
In the Orthodox tradition, people knock eggs with their neighbors, attempting to crack theirs in order to bring themselves good fortune.
