Uttaranchal, a state in northern part of India, known as the land of gods, is also a popular spot for skiing. The famous sport of skiing with a combination of sledging and snow boarding attracts tourists to this beautiful hill station. The important ski destinations in Uttaranchal are Auli, Dayara Bugyal near Gangotri, Munsyari near Pittorgarh, and Mundali near Dehradun. Skiing classes are conducted to help people who are not much proficient in skiing, by the tourism board. The entire valley of Uttaranchal is covered by massive snow in the months between November-February which is the most appropriate time for skiing. The only airport one could possibly find in Uttaranchal is in Jolly Grant which is near Dehradun and Haridwar and Dehradun are the nearest railway stations.
