Maldives, also known as Maldives Islands is an island nation in the Indian Ocean consisting of a double chain of twenty-six coral reefs. It consists of over 1,100 islands to the west of India, the world's lowest-lying nation. The islands are only 1.3 meters above sea level. The 325,000 residents of the islands are threatened by the rising sea levels.
Compared to the last century, sea levels have raised about 20 centimeters and it rises further threatening the very existence of this island. 'The Island President', a documentary tells the story of President Mohamed Nahseed and how he confronts the rise of the sea level in his country.

#4 Torres Strait islands
The Torres Strait Islands, located between Australia and New Guiness is a group of 274 small islands which lie in Torres Strait with a population of over 8,000. Only 14 of the islands are inhabited, with majority of the islands threatened by rising sea levels. The locals residing in the islands are frightened and are no longer comfortable living by the sea.
