The largest city of the North Malabar region, known as "The Land of Looms and Lore" Kannur lies almost 518 km north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram in the Indian state of Kerala. On the other side, the city is famous for the temple festival especially; the powerful ritual dance of Kerala; Theyyam is the main attraction of Kannur District. One can see Theyyam performance in more than 1000 temples in the month of November to April consistently.

Beach: The city enfolds number of beaches however, among the most famous beaches, located approximately 15 km away from Kannur and 6 kms north of Thalassery, the Muzhappilangad Beach is considered as a swimmer's paradise. It is one of the most amazing beaches in the entire Kerala region to drive-in. Vacationers can drive up to a length of 4 km where the Green Island near Muzhappilangad Beach is frequently visited by tourists. Meenkunna Beach and Payyambalam Beach is also famous in Kannur.

Amazing Palace: Among the most tourist visited places in the city, Aga Khan Palace & Gandhi National Memorial, Thibaw Palace, Lotus Mahal, Shaniwar Wada Palace, Soneri Mahal, Naukhanda Palace etc are the most astounding and tourist visited Palace in Kannur.

Taluks in Kannur: Formerly known as Cannanore. Kannur has 3 diversified taluks namely; Kannur, Thalassery and Thalipparamba. Kannur town has country's one of the best known snake parks.

Best time to visit Kannur

Located in the coastal Indian region, the city Kannur encounters a tropical climatic condition. Summer season is extremely humid where Monsoon brings heavy rainfall. Hence, the best time to visit Kannur is amid winter season i.e. from December to February as the temperature drop down to around 16°c.
