7 Beaches to Visit Before They Disappear

Bangalore: If you think you can party with your friends in Goa for many years to come, then think again. 'Go Goa' will cease to exist, along with other spectacular beaches, as the level of unchecked sand mining, overdevelopment, rising sea levels and obvious pollution is on the rise. Peter J. Frank, of MSNBC.Com, has listed 7 such heavenly beaches, which will disappear soon if our wicked ways are not corrected -

The Maldives

The Maldives have the most stunning beaches, breath-taking coral reefs and also some of the world's most lavish resorts. The Maldives can spell 7th heaven for most people.
But now it is facing a major threat - the sea-level in the Indian Ocean is rising due to global warming. The rising sea-levels will eventually drown out the lovely coastline of the Maldives. Scientists are saying that it will drown by the end of the century. Another area of concern is the rising temperature of the sea, which is killing coral life.
If You Visit: You can approach The Marine Lab at the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru resort for helping the Maldives. You can even go for dives into the sea and see the deteriorating condition of this gem of nature.
