Mt Tamborine

Perched along the edge of the Scenic Rim - the remnants of what was once the massive Mount Warning volcano - Tamborine Mountain is a thriving region, encompassing boutique wineries, award-winning restaurants, art galleries, sweeping coastal views and a delicate blend of old and new-world charm.

Located just 30 minutes from the city's iconic beaches, the beating green heart of the Gold Coast Hinterland is home to the third oldest national park in the world and is a favourite for romance and weddings, featuring a cluster of cosy hideaways, day spas, national parks and waterfalls.

Locally-grown produce including avocados, kiwifruits and macadamia nuts, alongside award-winning cheeses and the mountain's mainstay - decadent fudge - lend themselves to some seriously good eating. With quality food comes the need for a quality drop, and as Queensland's fastest growing wine region, Tamborine doesn't disappoint. The mountain also boasts a fantastic brewery and Australia's most internationally awarded distillery.

Springbrook
A place of breathtaking beauty, Springbrook is situated in the Gold Coast Hinterland and is home to ancient Antarctic beech trees, a host of native wildlife, a range of spectacular lookouts - including the aptly named Best of All Lookouts - and plenty of things to do.

Springbrook has a reputation for its fantastic waterfalls and the famous Purlingbrook Falls is a must see.

Another quintessential Springbrook experience is the Natural Bridge, an unusual geological feature created over millions of years by water tumbling through the roof of a basalt cave.

On a warm day, be sure to bring your swimming gear so you can take a dip in the refreshing Waringa Pool at the base of the creek near the Natural Arch, and of a night, take a nocturnal tour through the cave to witness an incredible colony of delicate glow-worms glittering in the night.

Lamington National Park
Lamington National Park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, the most extensive subtropical rainforest in the world. The area is renowned for its beautiful waterfalls and more than 160 kilometres of walking trails, including the 21.4 kilometre Border track, built in the late 1930's and the Caves circuit which has views out over Coomera Valley.

Lamington was saved from the logging and farming that changed much of the McPherson Range after being declared in 1915, and nature-lovers will be enchanted by the Antarctic Beech, wildflowers and rare wildlife that thrive in the area.
