Mullayanagiri: Highest Peak of Karnataka

Mullayanagiri is famed as the highest peak of Karnataka state located in Bababudangiri range of Chikmagalur. Mullayanagiri is just 12 Km from Chikmagalaur in Karnataka. Mullayanagiri is situated in the height of 1,930 meters from sea level. Mullayanagiri is well known as the trekker's paradise in Karnataka. This hill station is located at the Baba Budan Giri Range of the Western Ghats. Weather around the peak of the hill is misty and windy on most days which make short 'not too difficult' hike to the peak a memorable experience. It's better to carry a jacket or rain coat along while climb up the peak.Travelers coming from Bangalore ought to travel around 265 kilometers to reach the site. Small temple in the hill is dedicated to Lord Shiva which is situated at peak . The small hillock in the temple premises is the highest point in Karnataka.The entire area in Mullayanagiri receives very heavy rainfall in monsoon seasons , making the trekking routes extremely difficult.
