Once Upon the Queen of Hills
By Urishita Rao , Marketing Mgr
It was a sudden decision when three of us planned a trip to Ooty, the Queen of southern hill resorts of India, on January 15th. We planned to start the trip from Coimbatore.
o, on a Saturday afternoon we took a taxi to Coonoor from Coimbatore. Night we hired a room at Vinayaka Hotel and it was a freezing night as the temperature gone below 0C. Next day morning we headed to Botanical Garden, the flower show during summer is a must see.

The majestic tree ferns growing like weeds is a must see and fascinating site. I would not call it a botanical garden, but rather a nice park, were you can find peace from noisiness of the city. The whole garden is divided into six sections, and they are Lower Garden, New Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory, Fountain Terrace and Nurseries.

From there we went to Dolphins Nose and Lambs Rock. They're both viewing points in the mountains around Coonoor. The view from the rock was breath taking and that view stretched for miles and miles. From there we avoided vehicle and decided to walk towards dolphin's nose. The views along our walk were stunning and simply incredible. We really enjoyed the art of travelling and site seeing. The lush greens of the tea bushes against the hazy blues of the mountains behind, with the backdrop of a clea blue sky made some of the best views I have ever noticed in my whole life. We spent around 4 hours there.

After that we spent quite a while at Paye Mund huffing up and running down the grassy dales. It was a beautiful day altogether with the cobalt blue skies, crystal clear views of the surrounding mountains - Mukurthi peak and lakes. And in the evening by 7 PM we headed back on the same route to Coimbatore.
