Bangalore: Cushman and Wakefield, one of India's leading real estate consultancy firms, released a report on the hospitality sector entitled "Indian Hospitality Story 2012 & Beyond". The report evaluates the hospitality sector dynamics of the top six cities of India and also released a data of top ten states which has highest percentage in domestic tourist visits in 2011. 1. Uttar Pradesh
Domestic Tourists Visits: 18.30 Percent
Uttar Pradesh with 18.3 percent leads the domestic tourism visits in India among all States and Union Territories put together in 2011. Uttar Pradesh is the favorite destination for both foreign and domestic tourists. It is a common destination for a quarter of all foreign tourists to India and all domestic tourists within India.
Uttar Pradesh, the land of unending histories and charms has some of the the most famous tourist sites of like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Ghats, Varanasi, Sangam at Prayag (Allahabad), Forts at Allahabad, Jhansi and Bithoor.
2. Andhra Pradesh
Domestic Tourists Visits: 18 Percent
Andhra Pradesh is just marginally behind with 18 percent of domestic tourist visits in 2011. The state offers everything from amazing beaches to serene lakes, dense forests to dynastic forts, delectable seafood to rich biryani, historic places to sanctuaries, and shopping zones to parks.
The most important tourist sites of Andhra Pradesh are Charminar at Hyderabad, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Puttaparthi, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Warangal.
