Rihand Dam
Rihand Dam has been constructed on the River Rihand, a tributary of River Son over Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar Lake (Reservoir). The dam was completed during the period-1954-1962, with a hydroelectricity power station of 300 Megawatt capacities. The power station is managed by U.P. Hydroelectricity Corporation Ltd. The dam is a concrete straight gravity dam, having a height of about 91.44 mts and length of about 934 mts. Reservoir behind the dam covers an area of about 450 km2. The Dam has 61 independent ground & joints blocks. The water stored in Rihand Dam is released into River Son periodically for irrigation purpose throughout the year.
