Haji Ali Dargah is a mosque and dargah (tomb) located in the southern part of Mumbai, which is visited by at least 40,000 pilgrims on Thursdays and Fridays. It was built in the year 1431 in memory of Sayyed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, a rich Muslim merchant who gave away all his wealth prior to making a pilgrimage to Mecca. People from various parts of the world, irrespective of caste, creed and religion visit the sacred spot to offer prayers and the number of visitors increases to lakhs during the time of Ramadhan Eid and Bakri Eid.
