If the former is the highest city, then this is a remote place literally at the bottom of the world. With no permanent residents, the McMurdo station is home to as many as 1,200 scientists. Located on the Ross Island, this research center is always filled with scientists and workers in summer season. It's said that earlier trips to this remote place took months and even years, but now with three airstrips, McMurdo station has all the modern facilities that ranges from gyms, televisions to a nine-hole Frisbee golf course.
