Tristan da Cunha is a strip of small islands that are located south of the Atlantic Ocean. With a total population of not more than 271 people, the Tristan da Cunha is considered as one of the single most inhabited place in the world. The nearest and neighboring land is South Africa which is over 2000 miles away. Discovered in early 1500s, this island was first inhabited by Portuguese, followed by British, Italian and American settlers. This island is still under U.K's jurisdiction and has some television stations and access to internet via satellites. The descendants here mainly make their living by fishing, farming and craft works. Because of the unstable geographical features, this island has no airstrip which makes the only visitors to Tristan da Cunha, the sailors in occasional cargo vessels and deep sea fishing boats.
