Xi'an China
Xi'an, China, is home to one of the world's most famous underground relics: it is also famous for featuring the Mausoleum of Qinshihuang, the biggest imperial tomb known to Chinese history. This underground wonder was constructed in 38 years by 700,000 laborers, and is perhaps best known for the host of terracotta warriors buried with the Emporer. Interestingly, Qin the emperor's tomb remains unexcavated, and it is expected to yield greater treasures when excavated.
Positioned by rank and each bearing a unique facial expression, the soldiers are arranged in trench-like, underground corridors. In some corridors, the soldiers march behind clay horses pulling wooden chariots.
