Another hot day in Delhi, similar weather expected Wednesday

New Delhi, The national capital witnessed yet another day of scorching sun and blistering heat as Tuesday's maximum temperature settled six notches above the season's average at 45.2 degrees Celsius. No respite is expected Wednesday, the Met office has said.

"The sky will remain clear through the day tomorrow (Wednesday) and the afternoon will be hot," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

"The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 44 degrees (Celsius) while the minimum will settle around 30 degrees (Celsius)," the official said.

Palam in southwest Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius, Met officials said.

Many Delhiites chose to remain indoors and roads and market places wore a deserted look.

"I had to go out for some work but have postponed it due to the heat. I don't think there is any point in going out before the sun sets," said Shyam Ahuja, a businessman in south Delhi's Lajpat Nagar market.

Tuesday morning was sunny and hot as the minimum temperature settled at 28.1 degrees Celsius.

Delhi witnessed its hottest day in the last five years Monday. The maximum temperature settled at 45.5 degrees Celsius, six notches above the season's average.

Delhi's residents are facing a tough time with sporadic power cuts throughout the day.
