Bihar Gets Best Heritage Tourism Award

Bangalore: The tourism industry in Bihar was honoured with the best award for 'Heritage Tourism in India' at the India Tourism Trade Mart (ITTM), which concluded at Bangalore recently.

Tapan Sinha, who represented Bihar tourism at the event, told Times of India that visitors took great interest in knowing about the historical and religious places of Bihar. He also added that, ''We told the visitors that Bihar believed in 'Atithi Devo Bhava' (guests are like god). We informed the visitors about several tourists places in Bihar like Pawapuri, Rajgir, Bodh Gaya and Vaishali. We apprised them of the rich history and culture as well as the tourist hotspots in the state.''Sinha is a senior tourist information officer, Bihar Tourism.

16 state tourism departments, along with 20 national travel agencies and 22 international travel agencies were part of this 3 day event, which commenced on July 27.

India International Travel Mart is supposed to be the most comprehensive international travel & tourism fair in India.
