Hindu pilgrimage circuit in the Indian Himalayas. Most pilgrims to the Chota Char Dham embark from the famous temple town of Haridwar. Yamunotri Temple:Yamunotri temple, situated on the left banks of Yamuna.Yamunotri considered as the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas.The chief attraction at Yamunotri is the temple devoted to the Goddess Yamuna and the holy thermal springs at Janki Chatti.Yamuna constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal This temple was built in the 19th century by a descendent of the Jaipur royal family.Surya Kund,Divya Shila , Hanuman Chatti and Saptarishi Kund Lake are the major pilgrim center in Yamunotri. Inside the temple is an idol of Goddess Yamuna carved in black stone that is mainly worshipped and holy thermal springs at Janki Chatti.
