The Dharmaraja Temple
Famous temples in bangalore

The Dharmaraja Temple stands as a strong reflection of the country’s culture, tradition and customs. The architecture and designs are just brilliant. The combination of colours and the different images that have been used are something that will surely make you want to learn more about this place. The temple, housing two exceptionally fine images, one of Sri Dharmaraja Swami, the hero of the epic Mahabharata, and the other of Lord Krishna, is best known for its association with Bangalore's colourful Karaga festival.

1: @ The Chamarajashwara Temple is a beautiful temple in Bangalore, regarded as one of the highest Hindu seats....

It gives wrong impression that the Temple is located in Bangalore. It should have been Karnataka instead. More correctly in Chamarajanagar District of Karnataka.

@ This temple was built in the memory of Shri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, the father of Mummadi Krishna Raja Wodeyar.....

This is again wrong. Jaya Chamarajendra Wadiyar was the last King of Mysore ( Born: 1919; Rule: 1940-1950; Died: 1974) and great grand son of Mummadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar.

The Temple was built in memory of Khasa Chamaraja Wodeyar who was the nominal Ruler of Mysore from 1776-1796 when Hyder and Tipu held sway over the affairs. Ari Kutara was his birth place and after the Temple and Town was built it was named as Chamaraja Nagar, which is now a District Head Quarters.

@ The best way to reach the temple town of Chamarajanagar is by road. This is well connected by buses and is 185 kms from Bangalore....

This is again wrong. Chamaraja Nagar is connected by Train also. Mysore city is the hot spot of Tourist and anything else should devolve around this visit. Nanjangud is another important sacred Temple town. Near by Forests of Bandipur and B.R>b Hills are added attractions for Tourists looking for variety. Thus any tour should be by Road from Mysore to Nanjangud- Chmaraja Nagar- BR Hills/ Bandipur.

Mysore is also connected by Air.
