Giola, Thassos, Greece
A naturally formed sea lagoon with crystal clear turquoise waters! Giola is a natural swimming pool located near the village Astris in Greece. The rock on the beach houses a wide hole and this is filled with splashes of wave which slides down through the stony layers of the rock around the lagoon.
According to Greeks, The island of Thassos was home to Mythological creature Siren. These creatures were beautiful as well as dangerous, luring sailors through their songs and killing them.
Giola offers a glistening and serene swimming pool to tourists, with the area of the lagoon big enough to have ten or more people at the same time. Since the lagoon is separated from the sea by a layer of rock wall, the water is said to be much warmer making it an ideal place to take a dive and have a pleasant swim. The height of the rocks reaches up to 8meters from where the swimmers can dive into the clear waters. The road towards Giola is tough and people will have to walk.
