Picturesque resort Manali and the tourist resorts of Kufri and Narkanda Monday near Shimla experienced more snow, triggering a rush of tourists there.
The state capital received mild spells of rain.
Shimla recorded the minimum temperature at 6 degree Celsius, while the maximum stayed at 13.7 degrees, an official of the Met department told IANS.
Nearby tourist spots like Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda experienced more spells of snowfall.
Manali, which saw a low of 1.8 degree, received mild snow in the evening, while its nearby hills like the Solang ski slopes, Gulaba and the Rohtang Pass (52 km from Manali) have been experiencing moderate snow.
"High-altitude areas of Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Mandi, Kullu, Kinnaur and Shimla districts have been experiencing moderate to heavy snow since early Monday, while mid and lower hills getting rain," the official said.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a low of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius while the temperature was 7.4 degrees in Dharamsala. These towns recorded the maximum temperature at 6.4 degrees and 15.8 degrees respectively.
Bharmour in Chamba district was the coldest in the state at a low of 9 degrees below freezing point.
The Met Office forecast said western disturbances - storm systems originating in the Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region - would remain active till Wednesday, bringing more rain or snow.
