Mercury touches 40.5 degrees in Odisha

Many parts of Odisha Thursday came under the grip of a heat wave condition, with a town recording the highest temperature in the state at 40.5 degrees Celsius, an official said.

Titilagarh town in Bolangir district, about 400 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, recorded the highest temperature of the season so far, an official of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre told IANS.

Other places which witnessed high temperatures included Bhabanipatna (40.2 degrees), Bolangir (39.2 degrees) and Phulbani (39 degrees Celsius), he added.

Bhubaneswar also sizzled at 39.4 degrees Celsius. Similar weather is likely to prevail during the next two days, he said.
