Shimla sees season's hottest day

Shimla, Shimla recorded the season's hottest day Thursday with maximum temperature at 30.9 degrees Celsius, a Met official said, blaming the unusually high temperatures on lack of rain.

The high was a rise from Wednesday's 29.6 degrees, while the minimum temperature Thursday was recorded at 19.7 degrees.

Una town was the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum of 44.3 degrees Celsius, an official of the local meteorological office told IANS.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum of 39.3 degrees Celsius; Manali in Kullu district saw 26.2 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala in Kangra district saw 33.8 degrees Celsius and Kalpa in Kinnaur district marked a high of 25.4 degrees Celsius.

The met official said lack of showers in the past few days was mainly responsible for the high temperatures.
