7 Beaches to Visit Before They Disappear
Goa
Goa has a tremendously long coastline of 4,300 miles. No wonder its beaches are world famous. Despite the number of tourists, Goa is facing a dark future.
According to the Asian Development Bank, about 25 percent of the coastlines of India are facing "serious erosion." This is due to the rising sea levels, which are eroding the sand dunes. The construction of new harbors along the coastline has instigated this. About 63-mile of the Goan coastline is eroded and some of the beaches have lost about 65 feet of landmass in the last few years. Though the state government has recently asked for help from the central government, Goan activists are giving development more importance development the ecology.
If You Visit: A few of Goa's beaches are untouched by erosion - Utorda, Miramar, Cansaulim and Velsao.
