Nahargarh Fort of Rajasthan is situated on the pure rocky edge of Aravali Hills and it forms an imposing northern backdrop Jaipur . For was Built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II,who was the the founder of Jaipur. Beyond the hills of Jaigarh, stands the fort of Nahargarh like a watchful sentinel guarding Sawai Jai Singh's beautiful capital.
Nahargarh Fort was constracted with the twin intention of acting as a summer retreat for royal family and intensificating the defense ring of Jaipur. When in the fort you can take a look at the king's 12 suites that were built for the wives and the children, along with his own majestic suite.
The fort was extended in 1868 for the period of the reign of Sawai Ram Singh. In 1883-92, a series of palaces was built at Nahargarh by Sawai Madho Singh at a cost of almost three and a half lakh rupees. The Madhavendra Bhawan, built by Sawai Madho Singh had suites for the queens of Jaipur and at the head was a suite for the king himself. The rooms are linked by corridors and still have some delicate frescos. Nahargarh was also a hunting residence of the Maharajas.
