Himalaya's are the world's highest mountain ranges which are located at the north of Indian sub-continent; they also shelter the world's highest peaks. Gulmarg, Manali and Pithoragarh in the Kumaon hills are some of the favourite ski hideouts in Himalayas. Gulmarg is one of the highest lift-served ski-resorts in the world and skiing is possible both in winter and summer in the Solang Valley near Manali. January-March is the best time for skiing in the Himalayas. The nearest airport is Srinagar and railway station is Kathgodam, from where road transport like buses and taxies are available to reach Himalayas.
