Eravikulam National Park
It is an ideal place for seeing the biodiversity of high elevation shola-grassland ecosystem. Eravikulam National Park situated about 15 km from Munnar, A sanctuary for the endangered mountain goat of South India, the Nilgiri Tahr.This national park is spread over an area of 97 sq. km, and this park is also home to several species of rare butterflies, animals and birds. Eravikulam National Park is recognized as a great place for trekking, the park offers a magnificent view of the tea plantations and also the rolling hills caressed by blankets of mists. The park becomes a hot destination when the hill slopes here get covered in a carpet of blue, resulting from the flowering of Neelakurinji. It is a plant endemic to this part of the Western Ghats which blooms once in twelve years. The last time it bloomed was in 2006.
Anamudi Peak
Anamudi Peak is situated inside the Eravikulam National Park. This is recognized as the highest peak in south India standing at a height of over 2700 m. Treks to the peak is allowed with permission from the Forest and Wildlife authorities at Eravikulam in specific time slots. Anamudi Peak is home to one of the largest surviving populations of Asian elephants, Gaurs and the Nilgiri Tahrs

Mattupetty
Another place of interest, located about 13 km from Munnar Town, is Mattupetty. Situated at a height of 1700 m above sea level, Mattupetty is known for its storage masonry dam and the beautiful lake, which offers pleasurable boat rides, enabling one to enjoy the surrounding hills and landscape. Mattupetty's fame is also attributed to the dairy farm run by the Indo-Swiss Livestock Project, where one would come across different high yielding breeds of cows. One of the main attractions in Mattupetty is the beautiful lake, and the Mattupetty Dam, which are ideal picnic spots.
Pallivasal
Pallivasal is about 8 km away from Munnar town. There are several scenic spots on the slopes of Pallivasal. The hills here are ideal for short treks. Pallivasal is the venue of the first Hydro-electric project in Kerala. It is a place of immense scenic beauty and is often favored by visitors as a picnic spot.

Chinnakanal
The beautiful Chinnakanal Waterfalls is situated at a distance of 16 km from Munnar. Flowing from a height of 800 mts, the waterfall is a popular picnic spot.Near the town of Munnar is Chinnakanal and the waterfalls here, popularly known as Power House Waterfalls, cascade down a steep rock 2000 m above sea level.

Anayirangal Dam
The Anayirangal dam, 22 kms away from Munnar (closer to Chinnakkanal), is surrounded by Tata Tea plantations, coffee, Tea and cardamom plantations in the evergreen forests.
