1. Gavi, Kerala

An eco-tourist spot in Kerala, Gavi is the ideal place for elephant lovers. Located in a town in Idukki, Gavi’s green forests are abundant with wild animals— tigers, elephants, bears, Indian gaur, sambar, lion tailed macaque and more than 250 species of birds. For jungle lovers and adventuress people, the place offers a good camping option.

2. Kukrail Forest Reserve, Uttar Pradesh

Popular as a real forest picnic spot in Lucknow, Kukrail is the perfect place to have some quality time in the lap of the nature. Basically, Kukrail Forest Reserve is a Gharial or crocodile rehabilitation center and is one of the most renowned centers in India.

3. Bhavnagar Amreli Forest, Gujarat

Situated at the east side of Gir National Park in Amreli district, Gujarat, Bhavnagar Amreli Forest is a reserved area of Asiatic lions. One can have a glimpse of these lions while travelling through guided bus in the area. Winters or spring is the best time to visit the forest.

4. Nanmangalam Reserved Forest, Tamil Nadu

Located in the southern part of Chennai, Nanmangalam reserved forest is a protected area with 85 species of birds. This place is perfect for those that love birds and can watch them the whole day. Crested honey buzzard, grey partridge, pied kingfisher are some of the species that are found at the forest.

5. Vandalur Reserve Forest, Tamil Nadu

The reserve forest contains Arignar Anna Zoological Park, the largest zoological garden in the Indian Subcontinent that was opened in 1985. Seeing white tiger in this forest is not so uncommon, the rest depends on your luck!

6. Banni Grasslands Reserve, Gujarat

Spread across an area of 3, 847 square kilometers, Banni Grasslands Reserve is famous for rich wildlife and biodiversity. One can have a glimpse of several animals here like, Indian hare, Indian wolf, caracal, Asiatic wildcat and many more. Banni grasslands also have a rich diversity of avifauna, herpatofauna and invertebrates.

7. Tikarpada Reserve Forest, Orissa

Covering 795.52 sq km boating, while water rafting, fish angling and trekking with the animals are the major attraction of this forest. Though tigers are rarely sighted now, the wildlife within the sanctuary includes the Indian adjutant stroke, red jungle fowl and Indian pitta. Best time to visit the place is December to April.

8. Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve, Jammu & Kashmir

Located at a distance of 48 kilometer from Srinagar, the area has a rich cover of vegetation, and the prominent species that are often seen here are Black Musk Deer, Cedrus Deodara, Pinus Griffithii, Abies Pindrow, and Aesculus Indica.

9. Amarambalam Reserve Forest, Kerala

Amarambalam Reserve Forest is a protected area in the Kerala. The forest comprises nearly all mammals found in the Western Ghats that are twenty-five mammals, including the endemic and threatened Lion-tailed macaque and Nilgiri tahr.

10. Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand

Inaugurated in 1936, this place is a must for every animal lover. With tigers, the park also has 586 types of animals. However, tourism activity is only allowed in selected areas of Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people get an opportunity to see its splendid landscape and the diverse wildlife.
