About Nathdwara Rajasthan

Nathdwara, Rajasthan
Nathdwara is a small town located in Rajasthan and is a famedcentre of Krishna Temples. The term Nathdwara denotes the doorway to the lord. The town is a striking spot that unveils the magnificence of magnificent hills. The architectural majesty of the temples here surpasses any of the modern constructions.

Nathdwara is famous for its 14th century temple of Shrinathji, who is the 7-year-old infant incarnation of Lord Krishna. The statue was originally located at Mathura, but later in 1672 it was shifted from the Govardhan hill, along holy river Yamuna, in order to protect it from anti-Hindu Islamic policies of Mughal.

The town is commonly called the Apollo of Mewar, and is the hub of Pushtimarga sect which worships the lord as a child. Wealth and livelihood in Nathdwara revolves around the Haveli, a term used for the temple as it was located in a fortified mansion, or Haveli, meaning a royal palace.
