Guwahati
Guwahati was earlier known as "Pragiyotishpura" Mighty river Brahmaputra bisecting the city in to two halves. Guwahati is filled up with various rivers, religious places, green houses etc. The visit is incomplete without tasting the authentic Assamese food. There is a wide choice for shopping in Guwahati.

Kamakhya Temple
The temple is situated at Nilachal Hills. The temple is considered as the oldest and most prominent one for the worship of goddesses Shakthi. The temple reconstructed in 1665 after being destroyed by Muslim rulers. The temple is in the form of a cave, there is a dark mysterious chamber located in the cave, and mantra yoni is kept here by wrapped and draped with a silk sari and covered with lots of flowers. Other temples on the Neelachala hill include those of Tara, Bhairavi, Bhuvaneswari and Ghantakarna. The exact date of the temple is still unknown. A group of devotees arrives here in every morning to offer goats to Shakthi.
The Festivals at Kamrupa Kamakhya
Durgan Puja Celebrated annually during Navaratri Durga Puja in West Bengal) in the month of September-October, it is a three-day festival attracting several visitors.
Ambuvaci Ameti A unique festival in the sense that it is believed that, the Goddess (mother Earth) undergoes her menstrual period during this period. At that time the temple is closed for three days and opened with great festivity on the fourth day. It is believed to be inauspicious to till the ground or to plant seeds, during this period. This makes the Kamakhya temple one among the unique pilgrimage sites in India.
Jorhat
Jorhat is the second largest city in Assam. It is situated 307 kilometers (191 mi) east of Guwahati. Jorhat, as the name signifies, was just a couple (Jor) of markets (Hat). Two parallel markets namely, Chowkihat and Macharhat, lay on the eastern and the western banks of the river Bhogdoi. Jorhat was "The last Capital of the Ahom Kingdom", has archeological values associated to Rajamaidam - the last burial mounds of the Ahom kings. Tocklai Research Association (TRA) is the oldest and the largest tea research station of its kind in the world, situated here.
There are lots of tourist spots in and around Jorhat listed as Majuli the largest island on the Brahmaputra, Nambar Forest Reserve, and Tea estates of Jorhat. Majuli is the largest river island in the world. Majuli is famous for satras, there are almost 65 satras located in Majuli. Auniti Satra, Garamur Satra, Kamalabari Satra, and Dakhinpat Satra are important among them.
Dhekiakhowa Bar Namghar is a prayer hall used by Hindus, situated in Jorhat, constructed during 1497-1539. Jorhat Gymkhana, is a social club for sport, recreation and social-cultural activities, is a must see place.
