Aurangabad is famed as the gateway to the World Heritage Sites of Ajanta and Ellora, Aurangabad is named after the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb. Mugal empoer Aurangzeb, was made the city his capital from 1653 to 1707. Aurangabad is a historic city situated in Maharashtra state of India. Major Attractions in Aurangabad

Aurangabad Caves:
A major portion of the caves in Aurangabad are Viharas. Majorly twelve Buddhist Caves are found here which fall into three divide groups depending on its location. The first group consists of caves 1 to 5, the second 6 to 9 and third 10 to 12. Aurangabad caves are situated just a few kilometers away from the well-known monument of Bibi Ka Maqbara. Cave 1 is an uncompleted vihara, the ceiling of verandah has drop down. Cave 2 is also a vihara with a shrine of Buddha at the back. The remaining caves are generally credited to the Kalachuri dynasty. Of all, Cave 7 is the most elaborate and famous for its sculptural embellishments.

Bibi Ka Maqbara:
The design of the Bibi Ka Maqbara is a striking resemblance to the famous Taj Mahal. Bibi Ka Maqbara is situated 5 km away from Aurangabad. The inscription on the walls of the tomb reveals that it cost precisely Rs. 665,283 and 7 Annas to build this monument. Bibi Ka Maqbara is well known as Dakkhani Taj (Taj of Deccan). Inside the maqbara deceit the tomb of Rabia-ul-Durrani which is the positioned below the ground level and surrounded by an octagonal marble screen with striking designs.

Panchakki:
Panchakki well known as the water mill takes its name from the mill which used to grind grain for the pilgrims. This monument is situated in Aurangabad, which displays the scientific thought process put in medieval Indian architecture. Visitors having sensitive imagination may hear the beats of drum and the humming noise of the people moving around the complex.
