The PricewaterhouseCoopers sixth edition of its "Cities of Opportunity" report recently comes up with a comprehensive new ranking of 30 cities in the world that offer the widest opportunities for the people who live there.

The report also highlighted the increasing competitiveness of emerging cities across several key indicators like intellectual capital and innovation; technology readiness; how accessible a city is to the rest of the world; transportation and infrastructure; health, safety, and security; sustainability and the natural environment; demographics and livability; economic clout; ease of doing business; and cost.

1. London

London has always drawn in the young and ambitious as well as the already successful.

As per the report, the city provides compelling evidence that, despite its high cost of living, it continues to draw in more young and productive talent from across the globe than any other city. And its continued ability to attract talent has been central to its economic growth and to the U.K.'s ongoing economic recovery.

The report also noted that this city has been creating wealth for its citizens, and the world, for hundreds of years.

2. New York

It is indeed not surprising that The Big Apple, New York comes up in this list. This city, best known for withstanding economic headwinds, can boast of its additional lifestyle benefits, as per the report.

The city houses many districts and landmarks that have are well known to the city's approximately 55 million annual visitors. Many well-known colleges and universities are found in this city including Columbia University, New York University, and Rockefeller University, which have been ranked among the top 35 in the world.

3. Singapore

A sovereign city-state and island country in Southeast Asia, Singapore is one of the best cities in the world that gives maximum opportunity.
