Gulmarg which was formerly known as Gaurimarg is Asia's seventh best ski destination. Gulmarg Biosphere reserves, Alpather Lake, Ferozpore Nallah, Khilanmarg, Shrine of Baba Reshi and Ningli Nallah are the popular places in Gulmarg. Skiing, heliskiing, golf courses, Gondola lift are some of the prime attractions of this place.
Sonmarg
Sonmarg, 'the meadow of gold' is set in-between valley of flowers and lakes, at a distance of 81 km from Srinagar. The snow capped mountains, dazzling blue water lakes and grasslands makes the area more attractive. It is also rich in pine, alpine flowers, sycamore and silver birch. The place provides adventure lovers opportunities for trekking, sledging, angling, alpine skiing and water rafting. Thajiwas glacier is a major attraction of this place during the months of summer, which can be reached with the help of ponies.
