Cave House
Cave house in Festus is built within a sandstone cave on 15,000-square-foot, carved out of a mountain in Missouri. It is an energy-efficient house built by architects Curt and Deborah Sleeper which has modern interiors that unify with the natural incomplete sandstone walls. The need for air conditioning or furnace to warm or chill the house does not arise at all because of the geothermal heating and brilliant plan. In the 1880's the place where the house stands at present was a limestone and sandstone mining site. The place was also used as a concert venue and roller skating ground before becoming a private dwelling.
