Top 5 Uninhabited Islands of the World

Auckland Islands

Lying south of New Zealand, right in the chill southern latitudes dominated by the legendary "Furious Fifties", are The Auckland Islands. Largest of the tight-knit archipelago of five islands, Auckland Islands was formed thousands of years ago from several long dormant volcanoes. The total area of the islands is 241.3 square miles (625 kms) but the vast majority of the land is made up of deeply eroded, jagged mountains up to 2,170 feet (660 meters) tall. Part of the archipelago of the New Zealand Sub-Antarctic Islands, it has been completely uninhabited since the New Zealand Government removed a meteorological station set up and manned by the government during the Second World War.

Wherever you stay in Auckland, you're never far from breathtaking scenery, beautiful beaches, invigorating walks, idyllic holiday islands, outstanding food and wine, great shopping and exciting nightlife.
