Travelers Beware: 5 Common Travel Scams
Hotel Scams
Like well-oiled machines, taxi drivers, a few friendly locals you just met and specific hotels work together to ensure to fleece you of your cash and passport details. Many hotels trade on the names of some of the more popular hotels and are hardly of the same standard. The other common hotel scam is that the taxi you got into may try to tell you that your chosen hotel, restaurant or shop is closed, but there is another better one you should visit. The driver probably is trying to pick up a commission or works with a gang trying to dupe you.
Make sure you find out the hotel's location, prices and confirm your bookings to avoid being scammed when you get there.
