Edakkal Cave

Edakkal cave is wonder and a mystery for archaeologists and historians.Edakkal cave is situated in Ambukutti hill and around 4000 feet. Edakkal cave considered to be one of the earliest centres of human habitation. Three distinct sets of petroglyphs can be seen in the caves and some depictions are as old as 7000 years. Edakkal is the only known place for stone age carvings in South India. The carvings belonging to Neolithic and Mesolithic Age include ancient stone scripts, ancient weaponry figures, symbols, figures of various animals and human beings etc.


Banasura Sagar Dam

The Banasura Sagar dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia, impounds the waters of the Karamanathodu, a tributary of the Kabini river.Situated about 15 km from Kalpetta, the dam holds a large expanse of water and its picturesque beauty is enhanced by the chain of mountains seen on the backdrop. Kuruvadweep is spread across 950 acres. The area of Kuruva Island is filled with thick and green forest.
