Bandipur National Park situated in Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka, which covers an area of about 874.2 sq km. Banipur national park is bordered with Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala and Nagarhole National Park in the North. Bandipur National Park, established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger. Bindipur national park is famed with its richness of Fauna, include the tiger, Asiatic wild dog, striped hyena, sambar, spotted deer, barking deer leopard, elephant, gaur, sloth bear, mouse deer, mongoose, and the slender loris.
The park is bordered by the Kabini River in the north and the Moyar River in the south. The Nugu river flows through the park. The highest point in the park is on a mount is known as Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta, where there is a temple at the top. There is a restriction for visitors from the hours of dusk to dawn to help bring down deaths of wildlife.
