5 Most Vibrant and Scenic Gardens of India

Shalimar Bagh

Shalimar Bagh is a Mughal garden located near Srinagar city, built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his wife Nur Jahan, in the year 1619. The garden is also popular by numerous other names such as Shalamar Garden, Shalamar Bagh, Farah Baksh and Faiz Baksh.
The layout of the garden is adapted from the design of an Islamic garden, known as the Persian gardens.
The magnificence of this garden is correctly described in these words, '' A subtle air of leisure and repose, a romantic indefinable spell, pervades the royal Shalimar: this leafy garden of dim vistas, shallow terraces, smooth sheets of falling water, and wide canals, with calm reflections broken only by the stepping stones across the streams'', as reported by Wikipedia.
