It serves as the gateway of the temple and also adds to the amazing architectural beauty of the shrine, touching the sky. Rajagopalaswamy temple is a well-known Vaishnavite shrine located in the town of Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu and it is devoted to Rajagopalaswamy, a form of Lord Krishna. The temple, spread over an area of 23 acres is surrounded by a thousand pillar hall and a big compound. Raja Vijayaragava Naik built the main gopuram of the shrine in the time period 1523 to 1575 AD and Hindus call the temple by the name Dakshina Dwarka(Southern Dwarka).
