The Lake Palace Udaipur has served a royal abode as a palace as well as a luxury hotel to the high dignitaries like Queen Elizabeth, Lord Curzon, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and Viven Leigh. This one was rated as the most romantic hotel of India. Just once in your life make it to the Taj Lake Palace Hotel in Udaipur. The 250 year old structure that floats on the calm surface of Lake Pichola is a former summer palace of the Maharana now leased to the Taj Hotel Group. Kymberlee Fernandes reports in that this is the sort of place which is perfect for a romantic getaway, or just a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life, with a picturesque backdrop and flawless old-world service. The palace was a central feature in the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy.

A luxury double bedroom, their most basic option, will cost you Rs 36,000, while the Grand Presidential Suite a staggering Rs 6 lakh.

1: Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur is really one of the most expensive hotels in India. I have read many traveler reviews on and I am pretty amazed with the traveler feedback.
