The Wonders of Stone Temples Down South

Aihole:
temple

Located in Karnataka District, Aihole is the capital of the Chalukya Dynasty. The carvings are so beautiful that they can be included in the World Heritage Report. There is a Durga Temple which is curvileaner, possessing various carvings on top of it. Though predominantly it is of Dravida style Architecture, there are certain elements of Nagara Style as well. It is not known as to which deity the temple is worshipped, though some say Vishnu, the rest are skeptical about Lord Shiva as the architecture inscribed consists of various deities.
One place where Aihole stands out from the other temples; is the style of carvings which are more realistic and interiors are not done in a haphazard manner, but we can relate from one story to another.
