This place is filled with rock- cut designs. The mandapas are engraved on granite stone on the Shore Temple, where you can also find incidents from the grand epic Mahabharata. You will find rathas( chariots), where the Buddhist art is depicted as well. It is also said that the place was a center of learning for youngsters; who have displayed their art, where some are complete and the rest is left half done.
Another unique feature of the shore temple is that; the temple complex is free and not joint to another shrine, unlike other temples. The temple is shaped in a pyramid form with a Shikara on top. There are three deities of which two are dedicated to Lord Shiva and the third one to Lord Vishnu
