World's Most Dangerous Roads
5. James Dalton Highway (Alaska)
This Highway is a 414-mile gravel road which heads straight north from the Livengood turnoff of the Elliott Highway, through arctic tundra to the farthest north reaches of Alaska. Alyeska built this 360-mile haul road which is now known as the Dalton Highway and heads from the Yukon River to Prudhoe Bay. But this is not a road for those who have just bought a brand-new vehicle. This highway is still the main supply route for the Prudhoe Bay oilfields where you will be accompanied with large tractor-trailers in your trip. Windshields and headlights are the prime targets of flying rocks.
