World's Most Dangerous Roads
4. Sichuan-Tibet Highway (China)
As per reports, the number of deaths caused in road accidents increased in the past 20 years i.e. from 1985 to 2005 is nearly doubled, that is it climbed from 3.9 to 7.6 per 1,00,000 of the population. The beautiful high-evaluation road between Chengdu and Tibet, 'Sichuan-Tibet Highway', where rock avalanches and landslides are common is certainly one of the prime reasons for the increase of accident rate. This highway starts from Chengdu of Sichuan on the east and ends at Lhasa of Tibet on the west. This 2,412 kilometer long road stretches into Lhasa crossing Ya'an, Garze and Chamdo.
