It's situated at the south-eastern end of Nagarhole, by the backwaters of the Kabini River.
It is heard that in that past the place used to be a hunting lodge of Rajas and some other Indian royalty for their shikar. When life becomes unbearable for the din and bustle of city life, it would be wiser to switch yourself off from all network of the outside world and wander around Kabini in the lap of nature. Here, morning is amazingly fresh that it gives a new zeal to life to fight the otherwise dull, drab and mundane life.

is built over a tributary of the Kabini River. The Karapura irrigation dam is built over a tributary of the Kabini River.
