Lesser Known Man-Made Marvels of the World!

Lucknow, India:

Known as a gravity-defying place, not many have heard of Lucknow which is the capital of Uttar Pradesh in India. And even fewer would know of the maze-like palace complex - Bara Imambara. The structure was the pet project of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula - an 18th century ruler and was constructed by almost twenty two thousand residents.

The glorious central arched hall of the Bara Imambara stretches to over fifty meters and about three stories high is held without any pillars, girders or beams. The hall was constructed exclusively with knit brick work. The other mystery of this magnificent structure is the "Bhulbhulaiya" - an impenetrable labyrinth of over a thousand constricted staircases that were meant to thwart potential impostors - some stairways have dead ends while a few others lead to abrupt drops. Visit the maze with an approved guide - you may get lost in the confusion otherwise, and explore the neighboring mosque and manicured gardens.
