Christened as Asakusa Temple too, Sensoji is Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. Historically known for the goddess, Kannon, this place is also known as the goddess of Mercy. There lies a shopping hub which is 200 meters long with a variety of Japanese things. It draws thirty million visitors annually because of its historical importance. Beyond the Hozomon Gate lies the five storey pagoda. The Asakusa Shrine is dedicated to the three men who established Sensoji Temple.Sensoji Temple is the focus of the popular masturi, a festival which takes place in the spring as it draws attention for nearly four days. Sensoji Temple is associated with the Tendai sect.
