Solomon Islands are a collection of nearly one thousand islands in Oceania that forma a sovereign country. The islands lie to the east of Papua New Guinea in Melanesia and cover a land area of 28, 400 square kilometers. Honiara, the capital of Solomon Islands, is located on the island of Guadalcanal.
The islands have been inhabited for thousands of years and has a population of 584, 578. A team of French researchers have been studying about the island of Vanikoro, part of the 992 islands that make up the island chain, and according to them, Vanikoro is gradually moving toward the brim of sinking.

Palau, officially known as Republic of Palau, is an island country located in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of eight principal islands and more than 250 smaller ones, about 500 miles southeast of the Philippines. Geographical wise, it is a part of the larger island group of Micronesia with a population of 21,000 who are threatened by rising sea levels.
