Underi Fort
Also called Jaidurg, the scenic fort is located three kilometers in the sea and built on an island with its twin sister, the Khandheri main sea fort. Built by kahim of the Siddis in the 17th century to defeat the Marathas who ruled Khanderi ,it is located near the mouth of Mumbai harbor in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. With its lighthouse built by the British the fort serves as a landmark for ships entering the Mumbai harbor. The presence of the temple of Vetal and the tomb of Daud Pir both worshipped by the fishermen community of the island add to making it one of the most interesting forts of tourist attraction.
